The GIC may by instruments under the Great Seal appoint fit and proper persons, being barristers or advocates of at least five years standing, to be Registrar of the Supreme Court and Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court.

The Registrar and the Deputy Registrar shall be appointed to hold office during pleasure and shall devote their full time to their respective positions.

The Registrar and Deputy Registrar shall reside in the National Capital Region described in the schedule to the National Capital Act or within forty kilometres thereof.
